NEW ZEALAND ‘FRIESIANS’ - WHAT ARE THEY?

Occasional confusion still exists as to the above description of some black and white cows. Many years ago, Dutch or British Friesians were often used as a cross with Jerseys, but for many years now it has been Holstein. Therefore it is extremely unlikely that a New Zealand ‘Friesian’ would qualify for registration in the HUK herd book. It is in fact a ‘misnomer’.
